More about your dream clinic!

Transforming pediatric healthcare

I want to be able to spend quality time with every child, teenager, parent, and caregiver that comes to see me. No rush. No distractions. This became increasingly difficult due to unnecessary and extraneous pressures within the healthcare system. Not wanting to be a part of the problem, I broke away and sought to fix the failing system.

After hearing what the children, teenagers, and families in my community had to say about the current healthcare system, I knew that I was not alone. They would mention how they:

“feel like my complaints are being dismissed”
“don’t feel heard”
“don’t like feeling like the Dr. is rushed”
“feel [bad] when I ask questions”
“recommend drugs without good justification”

Hearing how our healthcare has been failing our children and families saddened me greatly. Surely there was a better way.

And so with the kindness, guidance, and encouragement from the community, I decided to create a new pediatric clinic - one that would transform pediatric healthcare for my community. Thus the creation of JL Pediatrics - a clinic centered around what children want and need! I am excited about the future of the clinic but more so the bright futures of the children and families in our community!

Per the request of children and parents, I am happy to provide the following services in a judgement-free manner to babies, children, and teenagers (newborn to 18 years of age) regardless of vaccination status:

- direct access to your pediatrician (that’s me!)
- extended office visits
- house calls
- telemedicine
- same day appointments

Meet Your Pediatrician

I was born and raised in southwest Florida. I graduated with my bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Public Health from the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL and my doctor of osteopathic medicine (DO) degree from the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Spartanburg, SC. I then continued north to Charleston, WV where I completed my pediatric residency at Charleston Area Medical Center/West Virginia University. I then decided to yet again continue northward to Akron, OH where I started my pediatric emergency medicine fellowship at Akron Children’s Hospital. While I enjoyed running traumas and the emergency department, after one year, I realized how much I truly missed the continuity and quality time I used to have with kids and families in the clinic.

This led me to moving back down south to Georgia where I started working as a pediatrician at an outpatient pediatric clinic. However, I quickly noticed that this was not the right fit for me. I wanted something more (see above section on Transforming Pediatric Healthcare). Since there were no other pediatric clinics nearby that I felt would help me achieve my goals and dreams, with the help and encouragement of my family, friends, and community, we created JL Pediatrics!

What’s in a name?

JL Pediatrics is named after my parents, Johnson & Leng, who I have always admired as role models of patience, kindness, honesty, and righteousness. As such, I hope to exemplify such characteristics as a physician, business, and individual. I love that God has blessed me with such wonderful parents whom without none of this would have been possible.

“Our experience at JL Pediatrics is unlike anything we encountered at other pediatric offices. The clinic itself is cozy and inviting, and Dr. Jeff is an atypical pediatrician. He doesn’t merely treat symptoms. He also doesn’t rush us along, giving brief and vague answers to our concerns, in order to get to the next patient. He truly listens, and asks thoughtful questions, in order to assess the whole health of the child. He genuinely cares about my children (as well as our entire family!) He is kind, knowledgeable, trustworthy, forthright, and fun! All of which are, in my opinion, essential character traits when choosing a pediatrician. We are very grateful to have his clinic and services available in our community!”
